NEWSFLASH: Bush and Miss Manners Go Vegan for the Holidays

That's right you heard it first here on MeroCocinero.com, good gente.

George Bush and Miss Manners are saying "yea" to going meatless this holiday season!

First, Bush pardoned the turkey

and then Miss Manners approved clandestine measures to get people to eat healthy; i.e. go vegan! this her response to a couple who were secretly given vegan pastries and protested.

GENTLE READER: These people offered you some delicious cake that may or may not have contained an ingredient to which your husband would have objected if only he had detected it at the time? The nerve!

The charge of force in connection with this gentle little visit would amuse Miss Manners if it were not so outrageous. Was your husband taken to this couple's house by force? Was he force-fed the cake?

Apparently, the gentleman does not understand the concept of hospitality. Miss Manners advises keeping out of social circulation until he does.

So...if you are a member of the oppressed vegetarian or vegan communities, and during this holiday season, you feel overwhelmed because of the historical amnesia of America towards Native Americans and...people always are trying to get you to eat turkey, STOP!

And tell them that you are backed by the President of the U.S. of A and if that's good for the Prime Minister of Iraq, the President of Guatemala, and Pakistan, then that's good for you, too. (OK...for your left wing relatives, tell em if Bush can spare a turkey, why can't you. go ahead...)

My vegan sisters and brothers, it's ok... you do not have to divulge the origin of your ingredients. The Patriot Act still does not take away that civil liberty from you!..for now.

Remember, good gente, be yourself this holiday season. Discuss the plight of our native sisters and brothers as the true foundation of this nation, be thankful for your families and communities, and eat how you want to eat — conscious of all living things that provide us sustenance.

Now, if only Bush spared the soldiers in Iraq like he did the turkey (and make them grand marshalls at Disney World), perhaps we will have a better holiday season.

pass the peace,
