leticia sings rocketships
(written in venice, italy; finished in the bay)
leticia
sings rocketships.
girl...let me tell you! when she cries but she ain't crying for fools.
no torchsong tragedies her eyes singe the melody like an ancient myth
the heart may hurt and the suckers who think she knows when the eyes are clear, watch out. leticia pray 11/20/01 venice, italy (lido beach) looking on the adriatic sea Click here for a printable
version of this poem.
i pity the fool
i pity the fool
who pricked her heart
to well her eyes
don't cry in sympathy, shit.
these eyes shine with potential energy.
(never does)
singing the blues
while her heart sings in bilingual lullabies
that rock heads into chaotic bliss.
being told by a wise storyteller:
the heart may hurt
but it always heals.
but it always heals.
they have her number
reallize
the error of their ways
listening to the dead signal on their side of the cell phone.
the water must flow
in and out of the eyes
to clean them clear
like the waves crash
pull
all the sand in and out
to clean the shore.
the water must flow
the water must flow.
the heart warmed
heated
pulsating
teeming with life
cuz
leticia
sings rocketships
that burst into the sky
high
out into space
for the whole world to see
like a community sattelite
transmitting the past, present & future
into the television of our minds.
sings rocketships.
she lets you ride.
