Leticia sings rocketships

(written in venice, italy; finished in the bay)
by robert karimi

leticia
sings rocketships.

girl...let me tell you!

when she cries
i pity the fool
i pity the fool
who pricked her heart
to well her eyes

but
don't cry in sympathy, shit.
these eyes shine with potential energy.

she ain't crying for fools.
           (never does)

no torchsong tragedies
singing the blues

her eyes singe
while her heart sings in bilingual lullabies
that rock heads into chaotic bliss.

the melody like an ancient myth
being told by a wise storyteller:
           the heart may hurt
           but it always heals.

           the heart may hurt
           but it always heals.

and the suckers who think
they have her number
reallize
           the error of their ways
listening to the dead signal on their side of the cell phone.

she knows
the water must flow
in and out of the eyes
to clean them clear
like the waves crash
                            pull
all the sand in and out
to clean the shore.
the water must flow
the water must flow.

when the eyes are clear,
the heart warmed
           heated
           pulsating
           teeming with life

watch out.
cuz
leticia
sings rocketships
that burst into the sky
                            high
                            out into space
for the whole world to see
like a community sattelite
transmitting the past, present & future
into the television of our minds.

leticia
sings rocketships.

pray
she lets you ride.
