DJ Special K
specialK@kaoticgood.com

DJ Special K was raised in San José, Ca. She started DJ-ing in 1995. She spins classic hip hop mixed with freestyle and house. Her first residencies were at Solar Lounge at Agenda and Fuego at Fuel. She has held residencies throughout the South Bay and has spunin places as far as Mexico. Her first album (Basic Elements) sold out in less than a year. San José Metro named her one of Silicon Valley’s hottest DJs in 2001. Her love of spoken word and hip hop led her to co-produce a bi-weekly spoken word/hip hop night at Agenda Lounge and Fuel, called Soul Messengers. She produces events that extend beyond hip hop music including Sessions, a weekly revival of classic hip hop, dance hall & soul that brings DJs from all over the country and the longest running hip hop venue in San José.

DJ Yellowfist
marlon@2tongues.com
DJ Yellowfist is a Filipino Muslim, born and raised in Wicker Park, (now refurbished and known as Real World Yuppieville) Chicago. His psychological animal is the koala. He teaches creative writing and performance poetry through Young Chicago Authors and Gallery 37, and spends the rest of his time over committing himself to “Asian Stuff”: a member of the spoken word group, I Was Born with Two Tongues, a founding member of the Asian American Collective of Chicago and teacher of YAWP (Young Asians With Power). He has spun all over the country, and worked with Danny Hoch in a Performance Workshop in Cuba in 2001. He is the ultimate professional audiophile, and his influences are too large a spectrum to mention in this bio.
